Early access Tilefold 0.1 for macOS is here

Your terminal, piece by piece.

Tilefold is a fast, beautiful AI terminal you extend with tiles: themes, editor features, hooks, MCP servers and agents.

  • Universal app for Apple silicon and Intel
  • No account needed
  • Signed updates, installed quietly
  • Windows version coming soon
Every command becomes a Block
You approve every agent step
One memory across panes

Every piece in place

Polished from the first launch. Better with every update.

The things you reach for every day are built in and polished. Tiles add the rest.

Blocks

Each command and its output become one card with a status stripe. Copy, share or rerun it in a keystroke.

Everything is ⌘K away

One fuzzy palette for commands, settings, themes and tiles.

The Composer

Edit commands like text, with real completions, multi-line editing and Ctrl-R history search.

One memory for every agent

Agent CLIs running in different panes share one memory per repository, served over MCP.

Panes that keep up

Split the window the way you think, and come back to exactly where you left off.

Updates itself, quietly

Signed updates install in the background. Choose automatic, notify or off.

Speaks your language

Twelve languages out of the box, right-to-left included.

Tiles

Make it yours, tile by tile.

A tile is a small folder: a short tile.json and one function. Tiles run in a sandbox and can only do what you allow.

  • Themes
  • Editor features
  • Hooks
  • MCP servers
  • Agents
  • Overlays
That's a whole tile.
import { startTimer } from "./timer.js";

export default (tf) => {
  tf.setting("minutes", 25, tf.t("setting-minutes"));
  tf.command(tf.t("cmd-start"), () => {
    startTimer(tf, Number(tf.settings.get("minutes")), () =>
      tf.toast(tf.t("done")),
    );
  }, { id: "start" });
};

Build your own tile

Tile Tools bundles a tile written as many files, in JavaScript or TypeScript with npm packages, into the one main.js Tilefold loads. It is open source under the MIT license, with six example tiles to start from, including the Tilefall game and the Tuneboard music card.

Themes

Fold in a new look.

Themes are tiles too. Pick one and watch it unfold, or design your own in Theme Studio.

Agents

AI that shows its work, and asks first.

Claude is built in as the default provider. Every step the agent wants to take appears as a card: what it will do, why, and how risky it is.

  • AApprove, edit, reject or stopOne key each: A, E, R, S. Read-only steps can run on their own; destructive steps always ask.
  • ✱Secrets stay maskedBefore each request Tilefold masks secrets and skips files you never want sent, like .env.
  • ?Ask, Explain, Fix, Run, ReviewTurn a sentence into a command, diagnose a failed Block, or run a plan one approved step at a time.

Local-first

Your machine. Your rules.

Tilefold runs on your Mac. You decide what every tile and agent can see and touch.

No account needed

Download, open, work. Nothing in Tilefold requires signing up.

Sandboxed tiles

Each tile runs isolated, from one file. The code you approve is exactly the code that runs.

Permissions, in plain words

Tiles list what they need and why. Grant it for one workspace, revoke it any time.

A tamper-evident trail

Activity records what you, agents and tiles did. Verify its integrity and export it.
